The double bubblgea moved into Kenotai Salt Marsh, finding the area relatively devoid of predation. It's number of bubbles doubled due to a genetic mutation, also altering its reproductive method slightly. Rather than budding young bubblgea off of its roots, it now begins life with only two bubbles and grows a new one every three months after its second year. When it grows more than four bubbles, the top bubble begins to grow roots, splits off and floats away to start a new plant. Besides its new form of asexual budding and increased number of bubbles, it remains fairly similar to its ancestor.
