The leaping sauceback is a split from the golden sauceback. Instead of running one leg at a time like its predecessor would, it hops, much like Earth's kangaroos would. This new form of locomotion is vastly more efficient and allows the saucebacks to travel great distances with minimal effort, a necessity on the wide open plains on Sagan 4. The skin has changed colors to blend in more, thus giving it its horrendous appearance. The airholes have increased in size and are situated behind part of the leg. Their ears have improved greatly, with a layer of skin surrounding the ear canal in the shape of a cup. One of its nostrils has increased in size, allowing an even more acute sense of smell. They mainly eat miragebok, but will eat young bearhog plents as well. Their only predator is the adult bearhog plent.
