Ancestor:Descendants:

The kelpivour split from its ancestor, the kelpoggle and now feeds on its ancestor almost solely. This strange adaptation accrued when some mutated kelpoggles started to feed on their dead brethren. They have evolved greater mouth-tusks and gradually started feeding on living preys. They haven't abandoned their old diet and still feed on dead scales of gilltails but it has become a secondary food source which they turn to only when prey is scare. They have also evolved three long hairs on their backs that are used as a sensing organ in order to feel small objects that change the currents in front of it, possibly kelpoggle prey. They still have a powerful nerve toxic bite and can easily paralyze both their prey and attacking species using it.
