Ancestor:Descendants:

The jellyball is an offshoot of the sticky fruit.

It has changed. For instance, the outer membrane is translucent, and thus you can see the gel within. It photosynthesizes with this outer membrane. Just like its ancestor, its spores are suspended in a sweet-tasting gel, which has become much sweeter. Herbivores bite this plant, breaking the thin outer membrane, and feast on the gel within.

To stick on the ground, the sticky substance is secreted on the ground, serving as a rudimentary root system.
