The islandshroom split from its ancestor. Unlike its ancestor, it has grown more than 10 times its size. It has also a thicker skin on the stem, which protects it from predators. The islandshroom has also developed a second defense. The top has bright colors on it, which convinces predators that it is poisonous even though it is not. Many small creatures seek shelter underneath the islandshroom including baby giant island bearhogs and pakahe.
