The ironkin split from its ancestor and grew ten times its size. Their shape is to prevent species its competing with from taking its iron pocket, the dome is hollow inside. They now live in clusters, a sort of iron reef, and share iron with those that run out to keep competitors from taking their places. Ironkins also grow over and partially or completely consume their dead, causing catacombs within the iron reefs. The dent on top is where it releases the cellball, and due to iron sharing they can be produced faster. They now also bud new individuals from underground, and very slowly, very messily, split down the middle for reproduction as well.
