The injection hemohex split from its ancestor. It appeared after a mutation occurred where only a hemohex's nuclei fissioned. Instead of fissioning, it will use its proboscis to inject nuclei into other cells. The nuclei will take over the cell, and make the cell into another injection hemohex. As a result of this its proboscis has grown longer, and the cell has become more streamlined.
