The hydrosnappers split from the turtsnappers and now inhabit the Elerd Temperate Coast and Elerd Temperate Beach. Amphibious, they spend nearly half of their entire lives in the water, and this has lead to their shell becoming thinner as a heavier one would weigh them down. Their claws, though fearsome looking, are used primarily for digging nests and are not very dense. They typically sun themselves in the early morning in order to prepare for the oncoming day, but are quite vulnerable while doing so. They have counteracted this "weakness" by sunning themselves in large groups of up to 30 individuals.
