The hothead has split from its ancestor, the funeral pipent. It is now semi-marine. It lives both in the bay and the beach. Its spends most of its time on the beaches however and only uses the bay for swimming to another polar island. It has become a herbivore and eats only black flora. On the beaches it eats ministalk and hypnodrak, while in the water they sometimes eat an arctic seaflower which float at the surface.
They now have webbed feet to help them paddle to each island. They have prehensile upper-lip which helps them take in food. They have lots of blubber not only to keep them warm but also keeps them afloat. Their tail can store up fat so during the summer they will gorge themselves on the abundant flora and then during the winter will survive on their fat reserves. They are black on their backs to help keep them warm.
They have a special adaption on their heads in which they can create an extreme amount of body heat. While it can't burn anything it can help melt and weaken ice. This comes in handy when digging through the ice with their claws. Their chin spikes have got longer and double as icepicks. The can shake their head side to side and break ice. When they are not using it to break ice males use them to fight over females. Females do not have chin spikes.
They are still social and will stay in herds of 6-12. They follow an alpha male which leads them to the feeding grounds. Each group have their own beach in which they mate and give birth at. They are territorial and will fight off other herds. If a member of the team dies they will bury them at their home beach. During this time the whole herd will let out mourning howls from their "butt-nostril".
