The gushlych split from it's ancestor, and moved from the river. They now are have a varied diet in their life cycle. As young, they take up the niche of their ancestor, draining the blood of members of the anipede kingdom, with some carpozoa to supply them with iron. As adults they take up the niche of their distant cousins, the crimson gusherwurm, they have begun feeding on iron rich blood, giving them a reddish hue. This allowed them to completely compliment their needs with iron. When a gushlych feeds on a living individual it will inject a mild anesthetic via it's mouth. It will do this in an attempt to impair the creature allowing it more time to feed. Their exoskeletons have darkened to retain more heat.
