The gulperpump split from its ancestor. It has become a more free-floating filter feeder, using its gaping mouth to swallow up any tasty morsel that floats along. While it can still use its fins, it is a very weak swimmer, so instead it drifts with the current, positioning itself into the flow of water to catch food. It uses the air stored in its pumps to stay in the upper reaches of the ocean, where plankton is most abundant; it has developed bright coloration to help blend in with the shifting current waters it prefers. Other than these changes it is the same as its ancestor.
