The grovecrystal krugg split from its ancestor, the krugg. It has specialized in eating the roots of the grovecrystal. In order to do this it has developed stronger mandibles to bite through the red fungi-like roots. And strong legs to climb, run or jump away from predators. Its red coloring is so it can blend in with the red fungi-like roots its eats. Like their ancestor they lay their snail-like eggs under the soil so predators cannot find them. The eggs can stay dormant for months until warmer weather comes.
