The grasspade split from its ancestor and moved into the western beaches of Dixon. It hasn't changed much from its ancestor except its beak has become more shovel-like in appearance, increasing its digging ability. It now eats the succulent bulbs of the brinebane, however it has to get past the super salty outer layer, which it will not eat; it will also eat the centiworm, which it finds will its burrowing through the sand. Its from limbs have disappeared from disuse. They have increased in sociality, living in groups of 8-10. They supplement their diet with photosynthesis, when they're out on the beaches photosynthesizing one or two will act as a guard keeping a lookout of potential danger.
