The golden plague split from it ancestor the golden lightning in Rabid Sandstone Caverns. Due to a freak mutation it now hurts its host instead of protecting it. Since it is so similar to its ancestor the golden lightning allows it to spread without attacking it. They are spread through contaminated water. Once the host is infected it attacks the hosts cells as if its host cells were a pathogen or plaque. They specifically only harm plent cells, thus other species infected may get sick but not fatal like plents. Due to the enclosed cavern environment the plaque spread quickly and killed off the cave enud, cave hateech, arbourundi and shroom hoofplent. In addition the jumping stalker went extinct due to lack of plent prey to feed on. The berry arbourshroom now without the arbourundi and shroom hoofplent to keep them in check have now had a population explosion. Once all of the plents died the golden plague too went extinct.
