The gilgan waterworm split from their ancestor. They are now parasites, hunting their main prey the gilgantic. They are attracted to the chemicals given off in the gilgantics gills, swimming into it and latching into their gills. They now have backwards pointing spines that, combined with their back spines, make it impossible for them to be expelled. They are now colored like a gilgantic, so as to make it easier to sneak up on them. They then detach their side spikes and leave. These grow back in two weeks, but until then they scavanger for food on the sea floor, preferring rotting gilgantic, but aren't very picky.
