Ancestor:Descendants:

Abyssal gigantism has once again made this line grow even larger than before! Like its ancestor, it has a symbiotic relationship with protohydroia octherma. Octherma makes a home inside the crystal's pores and its protected by the hard chitin shell. In return octherma gives its excess sulfur to the giant pyavent, which already has filtered out the harmful volcanic chemicals. However, its large size prevents protohydroia octherma from growing all over it, so it has a very mottled look. Also, their imposing look means some small creatures make their homes along the base as a means of protection from predators. Their exterior shell is also much harder. They have also replaced their ancestor, which means that the pyaventrapper is now in danger of extinction, and may be so by the end of the generation.
