The frilled sauceback split from its ancestor the feathered sauceback. It is even smaller than its ancestor and has changed its lifestyle to eat only flyworms. They have developed a feathery neck fill in which it catches flyworms in. They still travel in packs and will herd clouds of flyworms into small concentrated masses, then one will run into the cloud and catch as many flyworms as it can in its neck frill and lick it up with its long sticky green tongue. They will do this again and again until all of the pack has eaten.
They use their keen hearing and strong sense of smell to help make social bonds. It now can make a variety of sounds from its largest lung, which range from high shrills to low raspberry-like sounds. frilled saucebacks are very social and form a hierarchical pack, similar to Earth's wolves. In each of the biomes, there is a sub-species, that has distinct markings to help in blend into its environment. Shown here is a savanna subspecies. Like its ancestor its skin has developed feathery extensions that it uses to help maintain a more constant body temperature. Its mandible-tusks have grown smaller to get out of the way of the long tongue.
