The flash tide split from the flash cell. It thrives in warm tropical waters. Each season it will bloom. These photosynthetic organisms can form dense, visible patches near the water's surface which are enhanced by their flashing cells. These blooms of organisms cause severe disruptions in the reef as the toxins in these organism cause filter-feeding creatures like crystal shrubite in effected waters to become poisoned due to saxitoxin. It is a selective sodium channel blocker. Thus this not only caused the crystal shrubite to become extinct in the Glicker Reef but the creatures that depended upon it for food and those creature who only ate the creatures that ate them. Not to mention other filter feeders in the reef.
