The flash bud is a hybrid of the budding microdendron and flash cell. This happened when flash cells got entangled with budding microdendrons during their budding thus transferring some of the DNA of the flash cell into the new cell. This new hybrid had the best of both; it could bud like a budding microdendron but flash like a flash cell. This made it superior to both ancestors and eventually replaced both. Herbivores that would normally feed on the budding microdendron were now scared off by the flashes, while the budding meant it could reproduce faster than the flash cell.
