The fire cell split from its ancestor the methanophagus. It has developed temperature defense organelles, because of the predator cell salmundus. The red organelle produces heat. If threatened it can produce a mild heat that damages other cells who cannot bear the change in temperature. Since the bottom of the ocean is colder oxygen sinks to the sea floor. With more oxygen it can more efficiently perform cell respiration. When the red organelle is not active, the cell cools itself quickly from the cold water that surrounds it. However once it uses this defense all the energy needed to heat the cell has been used and the cell soon dies. To create the heat it uses chemosynthesis to convert the methane into energy. As its last act it will use whatever energy it has left to reproduce via mitosis.
