The filter uksip split from its ancestor, the river uksip. Since there were no other filter feeders in Hydro River it took advantage of this open niche. Its long hollow tooth now has small slits on either side to filter out the microorganisms in the water. It will sit down below all day sucking in microorganism and breathing via its skin. Due to this adaptation they do not have to come up to breathe. They still do come out of the water because like its ancestor they live in small colonies and will filter with each other all day and return to their burrows at night. On the banks of the river they will make a community burrow in which to lay and protect their eggs. In this large communal 'brood burrow', the developing larvae are brought sustenance by the whole family. The compound eyes have improved to look out for predators such as the plenteron as well as see in the dark burrows. Its skin color is brown to blend in with the brown muddy river bank.
