The feathered silkworm gets its name from the feathery protrusions coming out of either side. These lightweight structures allow it to catch the air and have limited control over their direction. They then use their sticky silk like a long fishing line. When it hits something it will reel itself up until it is on what it "caught." The light sensing cells on the back have grown into a round shape, allowing it to see to its sides and back, as well as straight up.
