Ancestor:Descendants:

The featherback snark replaced its ancestor, the ghastly snark. Since it lives in the nearly lightless world of the abyss zone it no longer could rely upon its eyes. Its gills have gotten much bigger and can now detect the scents. This helps it locate prey from long distances. In addition its long dorsal fin has become a gigantic sensory organ. It has feather like bristles on it which can detect movement in the water It is so exact that it can tell the difference between species swimming styles. This helps it locate prey and avoid predators. It lays its eggs on the sea floor and will not care for them. Babies are born as miniature versions of their parents and work their way up the food chain as they get bigger.
