Ancestor:Descendants:

The engulfamoebas genus replaced its ancestor, the mattamoeba. It also replaced its relative the flickeramoeba. Like its ancestors and relatives its stretchy pseudopods allows it to engulf prey. Depending upon the species it specializes in eating different kinds of microbes. For instance one species specializes in eating Flickers while another specializes in eating Percolators. As long as its prey is smaller than it, then they will try to consume them. Note while they are similar to the larger chaoses they are more resistant to extreme temperature and thus can survive in places that chaoses cannot.

Its close relative the matting ferroamoeba has gone extinct due to the chemeba genus group which is actually on the same base branch of the tree of life.
