Splitting from its ancestor, the elongated gilltail has doubled in size and switched lifestyles. With their ancestors being opportunistic omnivores it was easy for them to adapt to eating the ladym korystals. Their bodies have elongated, hence the name, to allow them to weave through the korystals to escape predators. They lay their eggs at the base of the korystals to protect them until they hatch.
