The egg slitherworm split from its ancestor, the slitherworm and moved to Ittiz Rocky. There it found many species which lay eggs. They will eat any kind of egg, no matter if its a larger capiri egg or a small shellworm egg. They will even eat each other's eggs. It uses its jaws to beak open hard-shelled eggs and then will slurp out the yolk. For smaller mucus-eggs it will just eat them whole.
Its "air-gills" have adapted to a dryer environment. To keep them from drying out too fast they only come out at night when the sun is down. Their eyes have also improved to see in the dark. They are now rusty-red in color to blend in with the iron rich dirt. Like their ancestors they must shed their segmented exoskeleton in order to grow larger. However they are only half the size of their ancestor. Offspring which hatch early will soon eat off the eggs of others. Thus insuring only the strongest survive.
