Ancestor:Descendants:

The drakolantern split from its ancestor, the glacialdrak. Now in Barlowe it had actually soil to grow in. It now grows six leaves around its spore chamber rather than 2. On each of these leaves evolved orange bioluminescent patterns. The reason for this is to attract fauna to come to them. Once they are close enough to the light it can sense fauna touching their leaves and they will spray them with sticky spores. While some do not stick and will travel by the wind, others will stick to the fauna's body and fall off in new locations. The fauna are then rewarded by their sweet tasting leaves. Since they only need to spray once the leaves can be eaten and it can go dormant for the rest of the year. Then the next year they will re-grow their leaves and spray their spores again. Their trunk and bulb have gotten larger to help store up nutrients in the winter. They are darker in color not only to help retain heat but to compensate for the patterns on their leaves.
