The doublearch fortree replaced its ancestor, the giant balloonarch. It was able to grow to twice its ancestors size because of a mutation which allowed two arches to grow instead of one. Having four trunks allowed it to become more stable than just two. Due to the presence of the dirigible tree feeding off of the rainforest trees it developed a defense. Some of its bubble branches developed into sharp spikes. This punctures the air sac of any dirigible tree which might want to feed of it. It grows its bubble sees right under the spikes since there is more wind higher up. The main balloon that use to be on the top got in the way of the spikes thus it no longer grows. Also it did not need the balloon to help keep it up with the other two additional trunks to support it. Like its ancestor they have no leaves but their trunks can absorb sunlight.
