The domed loppy split from its ancestor, the lolly poppy, and moved deeper into the Ninja Sandstone Caves, where there's no sunshine. In this lightless world, it had no way of photosynthesizing, and so it now relies mostly on the remains of ninjaswoops flown to it by outside winds. Unfortunately, this is not a reliable source of food either, so the domed loppy also feeds on hematite deposits found in the rocks around it. Using the mineral and the nutrients found in the soil, it is able to produce enough energy for it to grow.
Due to the lack of food sources around, the domed loppy became smaller than its ancestor, reaching 20 cm in height, from roots to top, rarely getting to the height of 10 cm above ground. All of what used to be its ancestor's stalk is now underground, using pores and small quantities of its gas to carve and dissolve hematite. Its pink roots are further done, getting nutrients straight from the soil.

A diagram showing the Domed Loppy's structure.
It has less spores, and thus is able to retain most of its energy. Its gas glands are almost always underground.
