The curled rootower out competed its ancestor and replaced it. It have gotten a few adaptations to the rainforest environment. First of all the sub-towers now are so connected that they are counted as the same organism, rather then colonies. It has grown a bit taller, but the biggest change is its curled shape. This was favored since it gave it a bigger surface for photosynthesis, as well as making the reproduction easier. Since the sub-towers now doesn't split randomly it have changed the way it reproduces slightly. When the curled rootower has grown to full size the curl makes the tip of it points towards the ground. On this tip the buds grow and fall down on the ground below where they start to grow their own towers.
