The crystal bubblehorn replaced its ancestor, the spikedshell bubblehorn, on Yokto Beach. Its spikes now mimic the crystal prismgrass which grows on the beach. This helps it blend in with the crystal flora and hide from from predators. Like its ancestor it use its bubblehorns to "smell" where it is going and find food. This "poo diet" is an important role in the ecosystem of Yokto Beach. Without it the beaches would become covered in excrement.
