Ancestor:Descendants:

The crawlegume split from its ancestor. Due to a lack of sunlight, it has lost the ability to photosynthesize and has become a detritivore and a scavenger instead. Its tentacles have evolved into "pseudo-legs" that help it crawl around the floors of the Yannick Ice Caves, picking off whatever food falls in. It still has its ancestor's lightspots to help it see in the dark. The crawlegume's "pseudo-legs" have evolved two "toes" on each end; this allows each "pseudo-leg" to have a better grasp on the floors of the caves. However, the most unique evolution is that it has inherited the shovelheads' gene that gives them three eyes, which gives the crawlegume depth perception. Along with the lightspots and depth perception, the crawlegume's inner ears have enhanced to help it hear better.

Due to the caves freezing over during the winter, the crawlegume has evolved an antifreeze within its body, which prevents ice crystals from forming in its body. This is useful because when it is winter, the crawlegume will endure suspension animation until the caves thaw.
