The cracking pipent split from its ancestor to inhabit the Yokto Rocky, Flisch Rocky, Flisch-Krakow Alpine and replaced it in the Yokto Alpine. Like its ancestor it is well adapted to its cold rocky environment. It has lots of fat in its body, mainly in its head, chest and back. It now walks and stands on its back legs, which have evolved a stronger longer boney heel-finger used to avoid contact with the snowy cold ground. It has also evolved much stronger larger wooden teeth able to crack the carnoferns, its main food source, and even feed on their crust. It uses its front limbs as graspers grabbing carnoferns with both its hands. Like their ancestors they have dark purple colored back to heat themselves.

They still maintain their known pipe though they rarely use it to swim. In order to protect it from the snow they have evolved a sensitive warm membrane around it. They are quite friendly and social and still live in large groups and have their known laughter. In hard winters they cluster together in order to keep each other warm. They also store carnoferns in huge burrows and can return to their burrows simply using their memory after many years.
