Splitting from its ancestor, the cloudeater has become an active flyer. Forming vast herds of hundreds of individuals, they filter-feed on the even greater amounts of microorganisms that fill the atmosphere. The females will lay their eggs on any available solid surface, such as zeploons and the various bellyoon species, after which they then develop on them for 3–4 weeks. The eggs hatch into tiny copies of the adults with yolk sac-like growths of nutrients growing out of their undersides in order to keep them nourished. They will photosynthesize until their mouths develop after about a week after which they will then feed via filter-feeding as well.
