Ancestor:Descendants:

The beach thornworm who did not have plents to feed on took to feeding on the purple plants. This was fine, until they began evolving tough stems and elevated leaves. After several generations of struggling to squirm up trees, the sandworms began developing tiny nodules on their underside to help them grip the 'bark'. Over time, these evolved the ability to move somewhat and eventually became little pseudo-feet. Once at the top of the plants, the climbing sandworm nibbles the leaves with tiny teeth. Sub-species have adapted to feeding on different kinds of purple plants. These may evolve into distinct species in time. The constant diet of purple leaves has stained these worms a fetching shade. They reproduce sexually as hermaphrodites and lay their eggs on the stems of plants.
