Ancestor:Descendants:

The cave tailopper split from its ancestor, the tailhopping sawclaw and moved the Ferret Limestone Caves. There it begin to eat the dead carcases of the smaraslim bubblehorn. After a while it actively hunt them by jumping up and snatching them from the walls and ceiling. To do this they evolve a stronger tail to help them jump higher and bigger eyes and "ear-nostrils" to help them locate their prey in the dim light or even complete darkness. Like their ancestors they can locate prey via echolocation with their "ear-nostrils". They can still change their color to a lesser degree and will choose colors that match the green limestone.

When making their nests, they will gather up any flora debris that has blown into the mouth of the cave and make a nest near the cave walls. They must be careful to keep these nest hidden with crevices in case larger predators from outside the cave do not come in and eat them. The female will sit on the egg while the male will hunt for food for the female. Once the eggs hatch they will take turns looking after their chicks and hunting. They can mate and lay eggs year round. There is no specific mating season for them. Males fight over females by fighting with their sharp claws and teeth. The winner gets to mate with the female. Once the chicks are fully grown the couple will separate and find new mates.
