The cave stalker split from its ancestor and moved back to the Rabid Sandstone Caves. They now live as monogomous breeding pairs for protection. Due to genetic atavism, they have returned to a lifestyle similar to its ancestor, the cave creeper. They once again kills its prey for blood and meat, but they are too small to kill their prey, so they must now use strategy.
The males slowly stalk their prey, until they get within strike range of the herd, then they jump out, startling the creatures into a frenzy. When they isolate a weaker member, they chase it right into the awaiting females grasps. It is the females that do the killing, because the males tend to be smaller. They are able to figure out hunting strategies similar to this due to an increased brain size. They have become smarter due to their meat and blood diet.
