Snow Puff

The cave puff split from its ancestor the snow puff. It has evolved to survive in ice caves. While it grows best in open soil at the mouth of the cave it can also survive in places where light is diffused through. And even in places that have little soil.

Like its ancestor it has the ability to survive in very cold environments. Using a form of antifreeze it can stay in bloom even in the winter. But it thrives in the summer when there is more sunlight. It needs very little nutrients and can even stay dormant in ice and snow until it thaws.

Its puffy spores are what made it so successful. It no longer produces a berry since few animals are around to eat it. In its dormant state it is only a lump of roots. If these break apart it can grow back when there is enough light. If it gets too warm it will die.
