The burysquid look a lot like their ancestor except for the use of their setae. The setae on their arms still serves the purpose to catch prey, similar to the bristlesquid. The setae covering the mantle serve a completely different purpose then they did on their ancestor. They grow in spiraling patterns, narrowing it down to the top of the burysquid's sac. To bury itself in the ground, it pumps it's water jet with water, then spray it out at high velocity, while doing a quick spiraling motion activated by forming their 6 tentacles into a helix and quickly turn them back into a non-helix. These causes the sturdy setae to 'drill' into the soft clay of Ichty river and burying them. They stop digging when only their tentacles and mouth stick out, and eat like their pre-ancestor, the bristlesquid.
Their tentacles have grown larger while their bodies grew slightly smaller, to waste less energy and to be able to eat more. Due to this, they have not grown, only their proportions changed.
Due to competition between the bristlesquid, burysquid and fursquid, the bristlesquid went extinct due to being inferior to it's descendants. The fursquid and burysquid continue to compete for food
