Ancestor:Descendants:

The budding gem has replaced its ancestor. It has also spread into the temperate forest. The basics of the gem are the same as its ancestor. The big difference is its budding. A gem will grow twice as tall as its ancestor and then forms a ‘head'. This head has four sockets where buds start to grow. Once the new bud has grown big enough to fit its socket, the gem starts to grow more around the bud. Eventually, the literally squeezes to bud so hard it propels it into the air and away from the parent plant. This change means that the gem is able to spread to new areas very quickly and they now cover the grounds of the forest. The gem gets its name from the glistening buds the plant produces.
