The bonecrusher replaced its ancestor, the scavengundi. With so many other scavengers and detrivores around, there was little food for it to eat, so it specialized in eating bone marrow which many scavengers passed up. They no longer live in underground colonies but still travel in a group. Their castes have devolved into their original two sexes of male and female. However the group is still lead by an alpha female who has rights to mate with the males. They are all the same size now though.
They have evolved a hammer-like trunk, which is used to crush the bones it finds, so they can get to the marrow. Their front limbs can hold bones when walking, however they prefer to walk on all fours. Their tail is longer to counterbalance them when carrying bones. At night they will sleep in abandoned tunnels of other species.
