The blood shrew split the Shrew Lizards of the Huggs Temperate forest. The Huggs Temperate Forest is currently one of the most heavily populated areas of Sagan 4. Because of this, there are a lot of large organisms, and the blood shrew has evolved to take advantage of this. There are two noticeable changes that have come with the blood shrew; one internal and the other external.

The shrew has abandoned eating carrion, and its diet seems to be shifting towards feeding off of other organisms "blood" while they sleep (Of course most of its prey doesn't have normal "blood" like a mammal, but it's similar in its purpose). For this to happen, the Shrews digestive system has had to change in order to accommodate this new liquid. A pair of its eyes have become better at seeing in the dark, at night when it usually feeds. As well, the blood shrew must be fast, in case the prey it's feeding on awakens. However, these advancements are weak at best, so the shrew still has to rely on hunting baby plents and worms sometimes.
