The blind cavehopper replaced their ancestors. They have lost their eyes completely, relying on their "ear-nostrils" to help them locate their prey in the complete darkness via echolocation. Their claws have evolved to help them cling to the walls of the caverns, and they have developed tiny hairs on their back legs to support them. The hairs are so strong they can support the entire weight of their bodies, allowing them to use their claws to kill bubblehorns. Their color changing ability has gone completely dormant, due to their being no light.
When making their nests, they will gather up rocks that they pry from the walls. The female will sit on the egg while the male will hunt for food for the female. Once the eggs hatch they will take turns looking after their chicks and hunting. They can mate and lay eggs year round. There is no specific mating season for them. Males fight over females by fighting with their sharp claws and teeth. The winner gets to mate with the female. Once the chicks are fully grown the couple will separate and find new mates.
