The black-winged nobom has split from the iridescent nobom. It has evolved to live in the harsh frozen tundra around the south pole. It eats only firpalms. In order to cope with the cold, it has developed a covering of very many fatty lumps which protrude from the body in finger-like masses. Another adaptation is its leaves. They no longer collect sunlight, but instead are used to help keep the plent alive. It spreads its black leaves out in the sun and the very many vessels in the wings warm up, thus keeping it warm. If it gets too hot, it'll fan the leaves much like its ancestor did. Because there is little to no sunlight in the winter, it has no way to stay warm. Instead, it will hibernate. Because of this, they have to eat a lot of food throughout the summer and are almost always found eating.
