Although broadly unchanged in appearance, this thornworm can survive when not totally submerged and has taken to burrowing through the damp sand of the shore, feeding on testudohexapodia acta. To separate the algae from the inedible sand it has a tongue-like mouth part. Abundant food, lack of predation, and the strength required to dig through sand have allowed the beach thornworm to grow to a whopping 1 cm in length, making it the largest 'animal' yet seen.
