The barnibarb is a hybrid of the balurine and purjephen. It has replaced both ancestors. With the presence of the zeploon consuming so many microbes it could not compete so it now is a parasite on the zeploons. It no longer grows a bubble to adsorb microbes. Its outer bark now has thorns on it to deter herbivores from eating them. They have developed an additional reproduction method since asexual budding can only go so far. They now can produce airborne spore which float around until they stick to a zeploon.
