The axetail has replaced the pluzzurd on the mainland of Glicker, although it still lives on the Huggs and Yokto Islands. Unlike its ancestor, it has become shrunk slightly in size, while its vision has improved in order to find its prey in the dark forests. They have also become somewhat heat resistant, much like their relative the nutcracker plent. However, unlike the nutcracker plent, it has a greater variety in food, ranging from photosynthesis to combstrainers. The one evolution that gives it its name are a pair of sharp blades that used to be a fin. The axetail uses them to slash at its prey and tear away nests. It slashes its prey by swinging its tail at them, similar in concept to how Earth's ankylosaurus whacked its tail at predators.
They have also become slightly social. They are found in groups of 2-4 axetails of different families when hunting, though the mother and father raise their 3-4 offspring alone.
