The armorberry tree split off from the shading-leafed berry. Due to island gigantism it grew to almost 5 times its ancestors size. To support its weight it developed a stronger trunk. Now that the leaves were up high herbivores could not get to them and they could get the sun light before all the other smaller flora. Like its ancestor it has a puffy spore flower that allows the wind to blow its spores around to fertilize other trees. Once fertilized they grow berries below their leaves. These berries now have a protective outer armor that prevents herbivores from getting into them similar to a nut or coconut. These nuts can also float and have made their way to Ovi beach as well.
